Health & Nutrition Specialist (NO-3) – Fixed Term in Luanda, Angola

About the role

The Health & Nutrition Specialist will lead the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of UNICEF's Health & Nutrition programme in Angola. Reporting to senior programme staff, the specialist will ensure that interventions align with UNICEF policies, national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update sector analyses, situation reports and strategic plans in collaboration with government, NGOs and development partners.
• Provide technical guidance to implement integrated Health & Nutrition strategies, including capacity‑building for government and civil‑society partners.
• Coordinate with multilateral agencies, bilateral donors, private sector and development banks to secure resources and influence policy.
• Monitor programme performance, analyse sex‑disaggregated data and adjust activities to improve impact and sustainability.
• Prepare technical inputs for project proposals, budgets and reporting to donors.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, nutrition, epidemiology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in health and nutrition programming, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Demonstrated experience working with government ministries, UN agencies and international donors.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to produce evidence‑based recommendations.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in health and nutrition programme design and evaluation.
• Experience with monitoring and evaluation frameworks and data analysis.
• Knowledge of UN procurement and reporting procedures.
