Excel Specialist – Remote Data Operations

About the role

We are looking for an analytical Excel Specialist to become the backbone of our data operations. Working remotely, you will translate raw numbers into actionable business intelligence for finance, marketing, and operational teams across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain highly complex, scalable Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables, and interactive dashboards.
• Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate data entry, extraction, and report generation.
• Clean, validate, and merge large datasets from multiple sources using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Develop dynamic forecasting, budgeting, and performance‑tracking models to support senior management decisions.
• Audit existing Excel files, troubleshoot formula errors, and ensure 100% data integrity.
• Translate technical insights into visual formats and train cross‑functional remote teams on reporting templates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, spreadsheet management, or financial modeling.
• Expert‑level mastery of Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, and Power Query.
• Strong experience creating VBA macros and custom scripts.
• Excellent problem‑solving, attention to detail, and written/verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment across African time zones.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, SQL databases, or data‑visualisation principles.
