Mechanical QC Inspector

About the role

Saipem is seeking a Mechanical QC Inspector to ensure that mechanical systems, equipment, and materials meet approved engineering drawings, project specifications, and industry standards. You will conduct on‑site inspections, witness tests, and maintain rigorous documentation to prevent defects and guarantee structural and operational integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site inspections, material checks, and functional tests such as hydrostatic and pneumatic tests.
• Verify compliance of mechanical equipment, piping, and installations with ASME, API, and project specifications.
• Inspect raw materials, components (valves, pumps) and skids before installation.
• Check equipment alignment, leveling, anchor bolts, and orientation.
• Monitor welding processes and review NDT results (X‑ray, ultrasound).
• Generate Work Inspection Reports (WIR) and Request for Inspection (RFI) documents.
• Identify deviations, issue Non‑Conformance Reports (NCR) and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of proven Quality Control experience.
• Fluent in Portuguese and professional English.
• Relevant certifications such as CSWIP, API 510/570/653, or ASNT NDT Level II.
• Must reside in Angola and hold a valid residence card (no sponsorship).

Required skills

• Blueprint reading and interpretation.
• Use of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques and result analysis.
• Hydrostatic, pneumatic and functional pressure testing.
• Knowledge of ASME and API codes.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
